Nancy Geiger will be writing a series of stories about her experiences as a Helicopter Parent. She is looking forward to sharing your experiences with her and others through this Baby Boomer Forum. Go ahead, have fun with it!

Nancy Geiger and her husband are empty nesters with their daughter Brittany (their only child) now a junior at college. When she left home Nancy started writing a monthly column for their local weekly paper about parenting a college student long distance. After 17 years as a travel agent for American Express, Nancy decided to commit herself to freelance writing and starting an online store, 2 blogs, a website and LOTS of volunteering! She even just published a cookbook called A Brides Cookbook or surviving the First Year.

Hi!

I'm Nancy and would love to hear other people's thoughts and experiences with having their kids go off to college.

Personally, I'm loving this stage in my life - how about you?

Nancy.

You've got the right idea. Lunge into all and every interest. Now is when you have time and resources to discover your gifts. Then when your daughter gets home youcan revert to Mom supreme for a few weeks at a time. Baking brownies is fun when you have time to sit around and help eat them with your daughter.

I just wrote a Boomer-Humor book to be released in 2 weeks by Amazon, "Scrambled Leggs" about a hospital stay that was more like being acred for my Dr. Frankenschteen and Nurse Wratchett. Maybe more for the older Boomer who is noticing that the warranty on body parts is up with a meager few replacements available.
I've been writing for about 8 years. You'll find it's a wonderful world. My first Boomer-Humor book was, "The Baby Boomers Guide to Menopause" I think I need to write about male menopause...but who can tell when it starts..men over 50 seem to be grumpy and moody most of the time. LOL Good luck, kiddo you're heding in the right direction.
