Are we the generation that wants to be sent to an old folks home when we get to old to take care of ourselves? There should be a boomer who is offering a Rock n Roll Old Folks home so we can all rock out together and live out our last days high on life! HA! Seriously, I do not think of myself as a person who will go to a home. I want to live with all of my other friends in a luxurious estate where creativity is encouraged and we laugh and have fun all day. I want to be mobile until the end and in great health. I think that many boomers are just getting hip to the new health detox craze and understand how meat and processed foods and chemicals in our beds and furniture are killing us--giving us cancer among other illnesses. The soil is not good enough quality anymore for us to feel confident that our vegetables are not polluted. Fish have so much mercury now that the experts are saying not to eat fish for awhile. People need to grow their own food and live in sustainable communities in order to live healthy lives. Doctors need to wake up to alternative therapies and reject medicines that are ultimately making us sick. We need to be the generation that takes "going green" seriously and save our planet for our children and grand children. We can be good role models for them, if we do something now. we are more educated than our parents were and there is more knowledge about all of this than when we were little kids. We are the generation that invented the words "Hope, Peace and Love." What do you want us to be known for ? Just being baby boomers? Hippies? C'mon you guys...step up. Lets discuss. :)

None of us wants to end up in a home for the elderly or disabled, but we must also be realistic. Children of boomers are less likely to take on the responsibility of caring for their parent or grandparent. Therefore we must consider the options for us as we age. We have to prepare in advance if we are to live out our lives with dignity knowing that we will be well cared for when the time comes. I recently read an article on a website about resources that you can go to to help give you the answers to the lingering questions about aging and our future path. For those who are ready to pursue these answers, check out this link - http://www.compukiss.com/elder-care/elder-care-hel p.html . Hopefully, you can make some profound decisions about your future without relying on your children to make them for you.
